Parkbridge Resorts in Ontario join forces with local food banks to fight food insecurity

November 13, 2025

If you have ever gone camping or stayed in a vacation rental or cottage, you’ve likely headed home with lasting memories – and extra food items that you would rather have not had to pack up again. This year a group of our Recreation Coordinators at Parkbridge Resorts in Ontario came up with a creative way to collect these items from guests and support their local communities.

In the spirit of giving, our teams kicked off a food drive alongside one of our most popular events of the summer – ‘Christmas in July’ – where guests decorate their RVs with holiday-themed fairy lights and enjoy a host of festive treats and entertainment. In festive-themed boxes for two weeks, our teams collected everything from leftover pasta and jars of sauce to coffee and cans of baked beans, all in support of food bank partners across the province.

The summer food drive was so successful that our teams saw another key opportunity to give back at the end of the season. With many guests staying at their sites all summer long, most find themselves with more leftover food than they care to pack up by the end of the season – making a Fall Food Drive another timely way to give back.

“Activities that bring our resort guests and team members together are always well received,” Chris Rhodes, Director National Operations, Parkbridge Resorts, commented.

“Throughout the season our resort teams have worked together to gather much-needed food items, and it’s been a great feeling for all involved to make the deliveries to their local food banks and see their reaction,” Patrick Anderson, Recreation Specialist, Parkbridge Resorts, added.

From the Kawarthas to Wasaga Beach, our teams have collected hundreds of food items for local food banks including Kawartha Lake Source, Kawartha Food Share, Helping Hand Food Bank, Elmvale & District Food Bank, Windsor Essex County Food Bank Association, and more

Thank you so much to all our resort teams for their hard work coordinating this worthwhile initiative this summer.
