PRIVACY POLICY

 

From time to time, Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc. ("Parkbridge") may collect, use and disclose personal information in the course of its operations.  This Policy explains how Parkbridge collects, uses and discloses that personal information and the steps we take to protect it. This Policy is based on and subject to the provisions of the privacy laws that apply to Parkbridge.

This Policy applies to "personal information", which is information about an identifiable individual, other than: (i) work contact information to enable a person at a place of business to be contacted; and (ii) employee personal information about an identifiable person that is collected, used or disclosed solely for purposes related to the employment relationship. This Policy does not apply to information that does not identify an individual, such as statistical information or information in the aggregate.

Collection

Unless the purpose for collecting personal information would be obvious to a reasonable person and the information is provided voluntarily (such as submitting an inquiry through Parkbridge's website), Parkbridge will inform you of the purpose for collecting personal information, either before or at the time of collection. At the time of collection, Parkbridge will also take reasonable steps to ensure that you are aware of how to access your personal information, how to contact us regarding your personal information, any third parties to whom we may disclose your personal information and any consequences if you choose not to disclose your personal information to us.

Consent

Your consent to Parkbridge's collection, use and disclosure of your personal information can be provided orally or in writing (including electronically) and can be deemed to be given in certain circumstances.

Parkbridge will obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose your personal information.  For example, Parkbridge asks for your consent in our customer agreements (such as marine lease agreements, home site lease agreements, licenses of occupation, etc.).

In certain circumstances, Parkbridge may collect, use or disclose personal information without your consent. For example, when the collection, use or disclosure of personal information is permitted or required by applicable law, in an emergency that threatens your life, health or personal security, or where your personal information is available from a public source.

Unless permitted or required by law, Parkbridge will only use or disclose personal information where necessary to fulfill the purposes for which that information was collected.

In general, Parkbridge will only retain personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the identified purposes or a legal or business purpose. We will take reasonable steps to destroy all personal information once those purposes have been fulfilled.

Parkbridge may also share personal information with third parties engaged to assist us in providing services to you or use third parties to collect your personal information. Note that Parkbridge may retain service providers outside of Canada for certain services and the personal information provided to or collected by such service providers is subject to the laws of the jurisdiction​ in which they operate. Parkbridge enters into agreements with such service providers to help ensure the protection of such information.

Protection of Personal Information

Parkbridge will take all reasonable steps to protect personal information that is collected, used or disclosed by us against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or similar risks and will use appropriate security measures when destroying any personal information.

Parkbridge will also take reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information collected, used or disclosed by us is accurate and complete. If there is an error or omission in your personal information, you can ask Parkbridge to correct it by contacting our Privacy Officer.

Access to Personal Information

You can request access to your personal information as well as information about how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed by contacting our Privacy Officer.  If a request is refused in full or in part, Parkbridge will notify you in writing, providing the reasons for refusal and details of the options available to you.

Accountability

Parkbridge has appointed a Privacy Officer to oversee our collection, use and disclosure of personal information and ensure that we comply with applicable privacy laws.
